Re: Pie n Mash
Without looking down the thread, there's a cafe run by easter europeans opposite the wetherspoons in Southend and I have to say the pie and mash in there isn't half bad.

Think it's just called family cafe or something and is always mobbed, as the food is cheap and isn't shit.

Very true. The old Calabrese I knew especially, apparently not much to do there. They could talk and milk a thing of espresso or a cactus pear for hours.

Coffee

Yeah electric

something like thing is what my sister has

http://meat-slicers-review.toptenreviews.com/chef-s-choice-review.html

That said I knew some old Italians who could get some very thin slices from their coppa etc, with time and their fresh sharpened knife.

It's crap and no amount of vinegar can salvage it.

Re: Pie n Mash
Do you mean an electric slicer? Even with the best quality, sharpest knife it would take forever and you'd end up with thick slices.

Coffee

A truly sharp knife, skill and a lot of patience.

or buy a slicer

My sister thinks hers has paid for itself in terms of the savings on ready-sliced stuff but she does have a number of kids.

Re: Pie n Mash
How do you slice hard cured meat in wafer thin slices? A normal knife presumably wouldn't be up to it?
